Erin + Kevin | Modern Detroit Wedding
There was a time when I was afraid of Detroit weddings and engagements - but no longer. Over the past few years, I have LOVED every single one of my Detroit photo sessions (keep them coming!), and Erin and Kevin's wedding might just be my favorite. From the GORGEOUS Shinola Hotel suite to the geometric fabulousness of the Wayne State campus and Erin's DRESS - just absolutely obsessed with it all.
For Erin and Kevin's wedding, I brought along Rachel (a friend and amazing photographer from Adventure Photo Stories) as my second shooter. I met the ladies in their hotel suite at Shinola Hotel while she met the guys a couple of floors below. Every detail of this space is perfection - seriously hats off to the designers and everyone involved in this beautiful hotel. The midcentury modern combined with old Detroit set the stage and cool vibes right from the beginning of this wedding. I knew right away that I needed to incorporate the abstract, art, geometry, symmetry, and gorgeous lines of not only Shinola but the whole Detroit scene.
Erin and Kevin had their first look alone in the bridal suite with all of Detroit out the window. Again, if you are on the fence about doing a first look, DO IT. Just look at these two.
Following their first look, we HAD to do portraits in this room as well, because clearly I am obsessed. Also, give me all the black and white wedding parties. Just so classy.

After that, we hopped on a party bus and hit the city for portraits.
Their ceremony was at the Eastern, and was just as picturesque as the rest of the day. They even had a bagpiper for the processional and recessional - the same bagpiper who had done Erin's sister's wedding a few month prior. And shouldn't every wedding have this many laughs and tears?
The bride's sister made the cake and all desserts, and aren't they all breathtaking???? Check the links below to give her a follow because her creations are beautiful. <3
DJ Dave Lawson played primarily vinyl and kept the party going in style!
